Monday September 18, 2017 St. Maries, ID

Hi there…

1. Did you have zone conference this week? Where do you go for that?
1. Yes. We went to Haden which is just above Coeur De Lane.

2. Where do you get your hair cut in this area?
2. From a member and she does a decent job. I just miss Brooke’s haircuts a lot. She will have quite the job fixing it when I get home.

3. Are you allowed to have district or zone activities on pdays?
3. Yup. We do every once in a while. The rest of our zone is like an hour and a half away.

4. Did it rain there this week?
4. The only day it rained was today. But it was much needed.

This week was pretty busy with just a lot of missionary work and meetings. So first on Wednesday we found a new investigator named Valorie. She’s pretty awesome. We built a fence for her.

We taught Mia a bunch of the commandments and it went really well. We just have a couple more things to teach her and then she will be ready for baptism. It’s kinda funny to teach her because it feels like we’re teaching a member. She’s pretty golden.

Eric had his baptism interview and passed with flying colors. His baptism will be this Saturday and I’m pretty excited. It should be pretty great! Mia’s will be on the 7th of October so I will be looking forward to that.

Zone Conference was great! We learned a lot about the Book of Mormon. There’s some pretty great things about that book. We have been talking about how the Book of Mormon should speak for itself. We have been learning better ways to do that. It’s cool. Also we are doing a cool Book of Mormon challenge where we are reading 5 pages a day with our companion and talking about how it can help our missionary work. I’ve never learned so much from the book ever in my whole life. It’s so cool. I encourage you all to join us and read 5 a day to keep Satan away.

Well not too much other stuff happening. It is getting colder and rainy so looks like it’s getting closer to winter. Love you all!

(p.s. are you sending hair stuff?)

Monday September 11, 2017 St. Maries, ID

Hi! Answers to questions…

1. Who gave you elk steaks? And were you cooking mushrooms on the top of them? Were they good?
1. Our neighbor Sis. Hyatt gave us the steaks. Yes shrooms and yes very good.

2. You sent a picture of your table. What in the world were you eating in bowls? And do you listen to cd's on a dvd player?
2. Yeah so we have a golden plum tree in our yard and we had a bunch of them for breakfast with some milk there were super good. And yes we do.

3. Looks like the smoke is pretty bad there. Has it gotten any better? Did you get any rain this week?
3. It’s way better now. But it was really bad all of last week. It’s cleared up now. Still no rain.

4. So your investigator Eric's date is coming up in 2 weeks! That's exciting. Are things still going great? Fill us in.
4. Yeah things are still going good. We’re super excited for him.

This week was a little bit slower but still good. The smoke put a little bit of a weight on the work because we couldn’t walk or bike and it was just painful to go outside. But we still managed to teach Eric and Mia. Eric is doing awesome. He is finally meeting people in the ward and making friends (even if we have to assign them). But he’s doing great and is going to have his baptism interview this week on Friday. We also have zone conference and exchanges with the zone leaders that day so it will be a very busy day.

Mia is doing great too. She loves the people here and is making some great progress. It’s interesting to see how the spirit works in other people’s lives. For some reason, God really needs her to be a member of the church. She will do great things and will be a great missionary in this area. Her baptism date is Oct. 7th. The whole ward and even Pres. Dymock is super excited about her baptism. Great things coming up here soon. I’ve felt very blessed to be here. It’s real cool to see how our Father in heaven sends us to areas for a reason. We just have to find that reason. Sometimes it’s harder than others. The same is for life. We are put in situations and callings and families for a reason. We just have to continually search for that reason and work with it.

I did hear about the crazy natural disasters. If you remember Carson Christensen is in Florida and I think Spencer Nielson is in Florida too. Crazy stuff! I hope they will be ok. I remember Brother Noot. That’s sad that he’s passed but I’m glad he lived a long time. I’m glad you’re having fun in your new calling and working hard. Keep it up!

Hey so I could use some new dress slacks just some new gray and black ones. They’re pretty beat up. Along with some hair stuff pretty soon. Thanks for taking care of me!
Love ya and talk to ya later!

Tuesday September 5, 2017 St. Maries, ID

Well to answer….

1. Random question but do you wear sunglasses? Hadlie's been driving us around all the time with her learner's permit now and the other day the sun was glaring in her eyes and I thought of you and if you're allowed to wear sunglasses???
1. Yes, that’s actually what I used the credit card for a couple weeks ago. Did you check that yet?

2. What was your happiest moment from the week?
2. Happiest moment. Well...hmmmmm I was pretty happy when I was splitting wood for a guy clear out in the sticks this week. That was nice.

3. What was the worst food you ate this week?
3. Oh we had this super bland spaghetti stuff that tasted like cardboard. It was nasty.

4. And we're mostly really curious about your investigators you have on date for baptism...how did it go this week???
4. Well I’ll tell ya!...

But first questions. So...I got a bill from the er here in St. Maries. I guess they didn’t send it to you. It’s like 70 dollars. Do you want me to pay for it with my credit card? If not I need to handle it soon so please give some sort of instruction today.

This week’s update on investigators…first our investigator Eric has quit smoking and really put his life in line with the Savior’s teachings and is ready for baptism on the 23rd of September! I’m super excited for that. He really has come a long way.

Second, our investigator Mia Suchouskie is flippin awesome. She owns a real estate business here and is like the biggest realtor in the whole area. She is so kind and such an amazing person and the ward here is pumped about her getting baptized. Her family isn’t super interested yet but they will be here pretty soon. She has had no real big concerns yet so she is one of those golden investigators that you hear about. She is like our mom out here. It’s kinda funny! She asks us were we are going next and what our plans are. She’s scheduled to get baptized on Oct 7th so it’s something to look forward to.

Besides that we have been dealing with some major smoke from all the fires in Washington and surrounding areas. The smoke is so bad we aren’t allowed to go walk or bike at all today. I’ll try and send a pic of how bad it is.

Yes I’ve heard about the hurricane. I think it’s pretty funny that it’s called Harvey. Haha. I’m jealous that you went to a Toto concert. They’re one of my favorites of that era. Well mom, good luck with your new calling. I know you will do great! You have a great opportunity to serve the people around you. Advice from my mission president about leadership…always uplift and inspire others to do good. Instead of thinking about your calling as serving over the relief society sisters think about it as you are serving under more people now. Now you have the chance to lift from below like the Savior did and not govern over the tops of others like the world does. Good luck! You will do great!
Well love you and hope you have a good week!

Those are elk steaks on the grill.

These are logging trucks that we see out our window. That is not fog...it's smoke.
